Love Relationship

How do you foster your relationship with God on a daily basis?

Your love relationship with God is more than just having a “quiet time” where we check off the boxes when you read the right scriptures.  It is a walk that requires focusing all of our faculties—mind, will and emotions—on Him. Then it begins to spill over.  Not only is this a love relationship that you have with God, but a love relationship that you walk out with our children.

Deuteronomy 6:5-8 says:

You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.  And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart.  You shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down and when you rise up.

You are charged by God to talk about Him with your children when you sit in your home, when you drive to soccer practice, when you’re getting ready for bed, and when you are rushing to school the next day.  Your children learn to relate to God by how they first learn to relate to you as their parent.  You represent the very character of God by how you relate to them on a daily basis.

Don’t try to accomplish by performance, it will just wear you out.  Rather, walk with God as you walk with your children. Don’t compartmentalize your life. Be the same every day, consistently and lovingly allowing God to touch your children through you.
