“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23
We have all missed the mark of what is right and perfect in life. This accounts for our separation from a wholly right and perfect God. The only way for us to be reconciled and brought back to fellowship with God is for us to turn from our sins, and to cross the bridge from death to life.
“The wages of sin is death…” Romans 6:23a
The penalty for any amount of sin is eternal separation from God and everything that is good. This does not literally mean immediate death, it refers to life in darkness and despair without direction. Our life without Jesus is headed to hell, not only here on earth but for all eternity. Only new life with Jesus can change this.
“But the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Romans 6:23b
Eternal life is a free gift, extended to every person. Our free-will allows us to choose or refuse this free gift from God. Sin is a slave-driver. It drives those bound by it towards death. Forgiveness is a liberator. It frees every believer to live a life of victory and look towards eternity in fellowship with God.
“God demonstrates His own life for us, in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us! Romans 5:8
Jesus is our life-bridge to eternity. While we were stuck, confused, frightened, and bound, Jesus died for us. So our call is to receive His gift by giving Him our life.
“Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved!” Romans 10:13
Jesus is the only one who can save you! As you call to Him, He brings you into right relationship with God and with others. Call out to God in the name of Jesus.
“If you confess with your mouth that the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved, for with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” Romans 10:9-10
When you completely turn from your sin and surrender fully to Jesus, confessing that He is Lord, and believing in your heart that He was raised from the grave, your life will be completely changed. You will go from death to life, from darkness to light, from bondage to freedom, from despair to delight. The path to a new beginning begins with Jesus, who laid down His life to be your ‘bridge of breakthrough!’
