The Purpose of it all!

by Kacey Randolph

There it was, staring back at me. My own name with the curser blinking beside it. Staring at me. I hadn’t had to send a “formal” email in quite some time, in fact I can’t remember the last time I had to and for some reason seeing my name on the screen was weird. What was even MORE weird was that is was weird!

I’m called any variation of Mom all day long – Mom, Mommy, Mama. When my husband gets home its “babe.” My friends call and its straight into conversation because we all know time on the phone is limited when kids are running through the house. The more the curser blinked beside my name the more I felt God speaking to my heart. God lovingly revealed to me that I was compartmentalizing my life. I am a Child of God. I am a Wife. I am a Mom. I am a Friend. I am Kacey.

As women we carry a multitude of roles that require much of us. While my relationship with the Lord is strong, it takes relying on His strength to maintain all of the roles and relationships in my life. It takes putting all of my faith in God to help me maintain all that I am called to do within my family, with my friends, and within my God given purpose. It can be overwhelming at times and I find myself becoming task oriented and focused on getting things checked off of a list. While it is good to be productive, we have to put it all in perspective and know the purpose of it all.

The Great Commission in Matthew 28  reveals our purpose: “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,  and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

We are given opportunities every day to rely on God and to glorify Him. Whether we have an opportunity to minister to someone in the grocery store or making our children a PB & J with a joyful heart. Either action is a step toward making disciples because they are both actions in which we have the opportunity to show others the love of Jesus residing in us. When we get too focused on the task we lose sight of the purpose. The purpose for our life, no matter our specific roles or giftings, is to advance the Kingdom of God. It is our duty to keep our eyes on Jesus and the purpose we are all called into. We need to ask Him daily for the strength to fulfill all of the roles that make up our life in a way that glorifies Him. If we keep our eyes on Jesus, even going to the grocery store with three kiddos in tow can turn into a Mission trip.

We would love to hear from you!

How do you find ways in your daily routine to glorify God?

Kacey Randolph: “I am blessed to be a Wife, Mother of three, Discipleship Coach, Photographer and Writer. I have many interests and I am thankful that my Heavenly Father guides every step.”

Hi Kacey! I love this post! During my years of missions training, the educational assignments were not just classroom study. They were neighborhood outreach to mother’s whose husbands had left, keeping their children while they worked. Things like using my daughter’s home-school education as an opportunity to prepare her for the mission field. It was serving my husband by meeting his needs and using spiritual eyes to see what God was doing in his life and how I could join Him in His work. All of those things, in addition to the classroom training, made me what I am today for the glory of God and His Kingdom! The tricky part is to recognize the truth of which you are speaking and allow yourself to enjoy it before you wish it all away to get to the “good” part of your calling. If we’re not careful, we’ll long for what we’re “called” to do in this life without realizing that the years we are daughter, co-worker in the marketplace, wife, Mom, etc. GET to be enjoyed as a big part of the preparation for the destiny God may have prepared in advance for us. The beauty is that we don’t HAVE to enjoy those years waiting for a specific mission to be unveiled, we GET to enjoy all of our various roles as part of something bigger God is doing in us. Nothing is wasted. God is very resourceful and packages it all up as part of the whole. And whole is a great word, because if we remain close to Him along the way, we become WHOLE as we approach our destination, being useful vessels, fit for the Master’s use (2 Timothy 2:20-21).

Monica! I LOVE the word “WHOLE.” Its all encompassing and that is how God created us to be! He wants us to live FULLY in the life & purpose He created us for and to walk in the FREEDOM bought for us on the Cross. Our God is so good and created each of us with talents & interests that will lead us on the path in which our WHOLE life is created. God prepares us well and what we have to realize is each role we have, each situation – good or bad – that we encounter is all a part of the WHOLE in which God is calling us to. I’m thankful to have a few special women in my life that have helped me realize to see my life experiences as preparation but to also not MISS the opportunities to glorify God. 🙂
