• Turn away from everything in your life that is contrary to God’s will
• Turn away from selfishness and toward God

“Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, 

so that times of refreshing may come

from the presence of the Lord.” Acts 3:19

2.  Believe: Believe in the death and resurrection of Jesus

• Acknowledge that Jesus died on the Cross to forgive you of sin.
• You take Him as your Savior to cleanse you of sin

“But God demonstrates His own love toward us, 

in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8

3.  Ask:  Ask Him to be Lord of your life

• Invite Jesus into your heart
• Ask Jesus to forgive your sin

“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; 

knock, and it will be opened to you.”  Matthew 7:7

4.  Confess: Confess Jesus as Lord

• Acknowledge openly and verbally that Jesus is not only your Savior,

but your Lord also

• Testify of your decision to follow Jesus

“If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart

 that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.  

For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, 

and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” Romans 10:9,10

5.   Receive: Receive the gift of Salvation

• When you open your heart and receive Him He comes into your heart—your inner person— through His Holy Spirit

“But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God,

to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood,

nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.”  John 1:12

You must turn to God completely and turn away from all known sin.  Receive His love and trust Him to make you new.  Simply begin to talk to God (this is called prayer) and He will hear you.

Say this prayer outloud (Let the words come from your heart):

Lord Jesus, I believe and confess that You are the only Son of God and the only way to salvation. 

I also recognize that I am a sinner in need of a Savior with no way to save myself. 

Lord Jesus, I repent – I turn my back on my sin. 

I turn from living for myself and I choose to give my life fully to You. 

I ask that You would transform me by Your Holy Spirit living in me,

and teach me to be the person You have created me to be. 

Thank You for paying the price for my sins

and giving me a way out of death and into relationship with God. 

Thank You for Your love for me. 

I receive my new life in You and commit

to follow You every day for the rest of my life.
