Helping women realize their God-given calling and purpose as moms

Your Prayer

Your Prayer

“For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you and asking God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding.” Colossians 1:9 NIV

Do you sometimes go through the entire day and forget to pray.  Never underestimate the power of prayer.

I didn’t understand the power of prayer until I was in a life and death situation. One night when my daughter Rachel was 5 weeks old I was awakened to hear screaming in terror. I tried to get to her but I couldn’t find my way. I was disoriented, I couldn’t breath. Finally I pushed up my window and I realized that my house was on fire and I had now way of getting myself or my baby out of the house.

That was the night that I learned the power of prayer. My mom had been praying for me from Isaiah 43… that I would go through the fire and not be burned.

Don’t forget the power of prayer. As you pray to God He will fill you with knowledge of His will and all spiritual wisdom and understanding. Pray like your life depended on it.

Your Fruit

Your Fruit

“…All over the world this gospel is bearing fruit and growing, just as it has been doing among you since the day you heard it and understood God’s grace in all its truth.” Colossians 1:6 NIV

Do you feel like your life doesn’t really matter?

Sometimes my perspective is too small. I am stuck in the meaningless and the mundane. But if I look up and realize that I am an important part of the Kingdom of God advancing on the earth. There is no better place to advance the kingdom of God than in your home with your children.  God has designed your home to be a safe, warm and inviting place for your children and others to learn to know God in an intimate way.

The gospel of Jesus Christ is dynamic. If you stay connected to Him, you will grow and bear fruit when you truly understand His grace in your every day life.

Your life matters.  There is no one like you in all the world.  There are people that God has called you to reach and He has given you the grace to bear fruit that last for eternity.

Do you ever hear the “lie” that your life doesn’t matter?

Your Hope

Your Hope

We always thank God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, when we pray for you, because we have heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and of the love you have for all God’s people— the faith and love that spring from the hope stored up for you in heaven and about which you have already heard in the true message of the gospel…” Colossians 1:3-5 NIV.

If you are really honest, do you sometimes feel hopeless?.

About 22 years ago I was sitting at a table with my newborn baby after going through a terrible loss and the people sitting across from me were sharing concerns.  They meant their words in love, but it was bad timing. It felt like my world was crashing around me. I was hopeless. It felt like I was being stabbed in the back.

It is amazing how vulnerable you can be when you have gone through the life-changing event of having a baby.  I look back at this now, and realize that my perspective was off-center. My hope was anchored to what others thought about me, rather than a confident hope anchored on the person of Jesus.

Have you ever experienced a lack of hope?

What helped you to anchor your hope in Christ?

Your Help

Your Help

Your Help, Your Hope of Glory

“…Christ in you, the hope of glory.” Colossians 1:27

Do you sometimes feel under-qualified as a mom? The great new is that there is a helper that who qualifies you and sets you apart for the task of mothering.

I need all the help I can get as a mom of seven children. It’s those days when I feel overwhelmed that I need to stop and remind myself, that I since I have made Jesus the Lord of my Life, I am not alone in parenting our children …. Christ lives in me (Colossians 1:27), and He has given me the ability to be fruitful in every good work. That includes being a mom!

If I stay connected to Jesus, (John 15) He will strengthen me with all might as I tackle the mundane assignments of life.  He has given me Himself so that I can walk in patience even with little boys that want to talk back rathe than obey right away.  He is the One who has qualified to be the best mom in the world for my child.

Learn to be someone who keeps confidences, who invests in relationships, who listens without bias. Become someone who others can rely on. Be the person that others can go to. A loyal person is never without friends.

Bringer Of Joy

Bringer Of Joy

Bringer Of Joy with your words.

Proverbs 15:23 says “A man has joy in making an apt answer, and a word spoken at the right moment—how good it is!” All of us know how helpful it is to receive affirmation to help grow. There is also joy when you are the one who can speak relevant words to someone else. Joy is contagious. When you speak encouraging words to others you will be encouraged as well.

Be a joy bringer today. Speak helpful words to others. Let your words be spoken at just the right time.

Joyful Understanding

Joyful Understanding

Have you every noticed that confusion robs your joy? Get Joyful Understanding!

Proverbs 3:13 says, “Joyful is the person who finds wisdom, the one who gains understanding” (NLT).Wisdom comes to those who fear and reverence God. As you search out His ways you will gain His understanding. One of the things that is wonderful about growing older when you are a Christian is the opportunity to grow in greater wisdom.

As you begin to understand God’s ways, confusion will flee and understanding will come. Let the joyful understanding of the season bring you abundant blessing of wisdom.

Restored Joy

Restored Joy

There is no joy when you disobey God?

King David was so distraught after his sin of adultery and murder that he penned a song of repentance. In Psalm 51:12 David says, “Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and make me willing to obey you” (NLT).

Often the enemy of our hearts will tempt us to sin, making it seem like a fun thing to do. But don’t buy it. It is a trap that will lead to unhappiness and pain. True joy comes when we turn around and are willing to completely obey God.  Then He restores our joy so that we overflow in Him.

Glorious Miracles

Glorious Miracles

Have you ever noticed that it’s easy to forget God’s glorious miracles?

Psalm 106:1-3 says, “Praise the Lord!Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good! His faithful love endures forever. Who can list the glorious miracles of the Lord? Who can ever praise him enough? There is joy for those who deal justly with others and always do what is right.

Joy comes when we give thanks to God for His goodness. Joy comes as we walk in integrity, always doing what is right whether someone is watching or not. Joy comes when we remember the glorious miracle of Christ’s birth and His new life in each one of us who calls on His name. This is a season of great joy.

Joy, what’s the secret?

Joy, what’s the secret?

Joy, do you every wonder what is the secret to it.

Psalm 16:11 says: “You will show me the path of life; in Your presence is fullness of joy; at Your right hand are pleasures forevermore” (NKJV). The secret is staying in God’s presence. Whenever you or I are lacking, we need to find Jesus. When we abide in Jesus and He abides in us, then we experience fullness of joy.

In every season, in stead of escaping from life, make Jesus the joy of your life. Don’t let shopping malls or buying things be a diversion.   In His presence is fullness of joy.  It will become the fruit of your time with God.

Press On!

Press On!

Have you ever had the question from your child, “Are we there yet?”

In Philippians 3:14 Paul says “I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.” (NLT).  So many times we get distracted on what is really important in our lives.  A good athlete is very focused on the prize.

You and I need to be diligently pursuing the heavenly prize. Think about the eternal ramifications of leading your child to Christ, of sharing the good news with your neighbor, of fulfilling your calling and destiny in life. Don’t get distracted by how long things take, press on, the prize awaits those who don’t give up!

Insurance Plan

Insurance Plan

Do you ever forget to thank God for all of His benefits?

Psalm 103:2-5 says, “Let all that I am praise the Lord; may I never forget the good things he does for me. He forgives all my sins and heals all my diseases. He redeems me from death and crowns me with love and tender mercies. He fills my life with good things. My youth is renewed like the eagle’s!” (NLT).

This is a great insurance plan.  With God, your difficult situations are forgiven, your disease are healed, and every dead-end situation is redeemed. You even look younger because your youth is renewed.

Remember God’s benefits today. Thank Him that His word is true and apply it to your life and the life of your family.

Take Your Medicine

Take Your Medicine

Do you laugh every day?

Proverbs 17:22 (NLT) says “A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit saps a person’s strength.” If a medical doctor said to you, take this medicine 3 times a day and you will feel better, you are likely to obey.  Well God’s word has given you a prescription that is guaranteed to make you feel better. If you smile, laugh or simply enjoy your everyday life, your heath and well-being will improve.

Don’t get stuck in a cycle of daily frustration, stoke the embers of your sense of humor. Don’t sweat the small things and laugh yourself healthy.

Change

Change

Do you sometimes doubt that things will ever change for the better?

So many times we get a negative perspective on our life. If things are not going well, we just assume that it will never change. Jesus said in Mark 10:22-24, “Have faith in God…Truly I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them. Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.”

Jesus has given you and I a strategy for changing life situations. If you doubt in your heart, you will restrict the flow of His provision in your life and the life of your children. We must have a faith perspective anchored on God Himself.

So, speak to every obstacle believing that you will receive God’s best for your life. Put your faith in the mountain moving ability of the God of the universe and you will see things change!

The Battlefield Of Your Mind

The Battlefield Of Your Mind

Have you ever been in a conflict within your home that feels intensely painful.

We want our homes to be peaceful and free from strife. But at times we experience battles in our mind that are difficult and stressful. 2 Corinthians 10:3-5 in the New Living Translation says “We are human, but we don’t wage war as humans do. We use God’s mighty weapons, not worldly weapons, to knock down the strongholds of human reasoning and to destroy false arguments.  We destroy every proud obstacle that keeps people from knowing God. We capture their rebellious thoughts and teach them to obey Christ.”

So many times the battle that you and I fight is in our own thoughts. We must diligently and purposefully make our thoughts line up with God’s word, His will, and His way!  You will be amazed when you engage in this battle peace can be restored in your thoughts, emotions and in the very emotional fabric of your home. If you are at peace, you are able to face every difficult situation and painful relationship with wisdom and insight that comes from above.

Choose Life

Choose Life

Do you hope your child will make good choices?

All of us desire our children to make good choices, but we can not control their decisions. In Deuteronomy 30:19 it says “Today I have given you the choice between life and death, between blessings and curses. Now I call on heaven and earth to witness the choice you make. Oh, that you would choose life, so that you and your descendants might live! “

You can’t control the choices your children make, but you can choose life.  As you choose to be life-giving in your relationship with your children you will be obeying God and serving Him as you steward the life of your child. They will be in your home such a relatively short amount of time.  Your daily choices as a parent will pave the way for those that follow in your footsteps.  When you make good choices, your children will be more likely to choose wisely as they see your example.

Commit Wholeheartedly

Commit Wholeheartedly

Have you ever noticed that it takes a consistent effort to teach your children the ways of God?

Deuteronomy 11:18-19 says “So commit yourselves wholeheartedly to these words of mine. Tie them to your hands and wear them on your forehead as reminders. Teach them to your children. Talk about them when you are at home and when you are on the road, when you are going to bed and when you are getting up” (NLT).

Our children are going to know if we are committed wholeheartedly to the Word, Will and Ways of God by how we interact with them on a daily basis.  Are you in conversation with them as you drive down the road? Are you applying the word to daily situations that they ask you about. Are you talking about Christian Values and encouraging them to grow in their own convictions?

Let your life preach the goodnews in word and deed.

Power To Succeed

Power To Succeed

Do you feel pressure to be a success?

To truly succeed in life you must truly trust and obey God fully.  You must humble yourself, turn from your own self-suffienciency and rely on God. Deuteronomy 8:17-18 says, “ He did all this so you would never say to yourself, ‘I have achieved this wealth with my own strength and energy.’ Remember the Lord your God. He is the one who gives you power to be successful, in order to fulfill the covenant he confirmed to your ancestors with an oath.”

Even as a parent, if you are trusting in your own resouces to make you a good parent, you will quickly fall on your face. You will make mistakes as a parent and not even comprehend the damage you are doing as you walk in pride. It takes humility to be a good parent. Humility to lean on God and humility to be able to learn from others.

When you put the results in God’s hands, you will be a success by following His lead.

Celebrate What God Has Done

Celebrate What God Has Done

Do you remember the things that God has done for you?

There are so many times that I forget to fully celebrate the goodness of God when He has answered my prayers. Deuteronomy 4:9 says ““But watch out! Be careful never to forget what you yourself have seen. Do not let these memories escape from your mind as long as you live! And be sure to pass them on to your children and grandchildren” (NLT).

By taking the time to recount the many blessings that God has done, it helps me to recount His faithfulness in my life to my children.  When we are open and transparent with our children about our own dependancy on God, they will learn that God is trustworthy in time of need.  If they see you pray and wait on God for your needs to be met, they will learn to do the same.  They can be part of the celebration when God’s answers prevail.

God desires for you to live an epic life as an overcomer.  As you overcome trials and circumstances, you are training your children as overcomers too.
